At Kent ISD, we have developed another online learning opportunity for teachers on the go. This new open-access online course focuses on Writing Quality Assessments. The Common Core State Standards and previews of the next generation of assessments have provided an opportunity to examine the level of rigor that is currently being taught and evaluated in our classrooms. This course talks through some of the natural steps that an educator would take when developing assessment items to meet the depth of knowledge that a student needs in order to be proficient on those standards and, in backward design fashion, how those more rigorous assessment items will impact instruction. The information, activities, and ideas referenced throughout the course are adapted from many assessment resources including those from the Michigan Assessment Consortium (MAC) Group, Performance Assessments of Social Studies Thinking (PASST) Assessment Work, and Karin Hess.
19 SCECH’s are available, pending approval. There is a $5 application fee due to earn SCECH’s.
There is no charge for this course, but registration is required. Register or learn more about this course by clicking on the link or viewing the flyer below.
