Kent ISD’s New Digital Assessment Series Begins with Substitutional Assessment Tools and Strategies

The start of school is just around the corner and Kent ISD’s Educational Technology Team wants to make sure you are using the best technology tools and strategies in your classroom this year. We have created a 3-part series of workshops that focus on building teachers’ capacity to create and deliver digital assessments using online tools. Each part in the series focuses on a different component of digital assessments:

  • Substitutional Assessment Tools and Strategies
  • Transformational Assessment Tools and Strategies
  • Using Assessment Data to Inform Instruction

Substitutional Assessment Tools and Strategies is part one of Kent ISD’s Digital Assessment Series. This course features five one-hour sessions that you can access in person at Kent ISD or virtually via web conference. Each session will be simulcast and will include direct instruction, as well as workshop time with available support from the instructors.

This workshop is targeted towards teachers who do not currently use digital assessment and focuses on transitioning these teachers from using traditional assessment tools to free online assessment tools. Each week we will learn about a different tool and explore how students can demonstrate knowledge using this tool. The assessment tools we will learn about include:

  • Formative
  • Google Forms
  • Poll Everywhere
  • Nearpod
  • Socrative
