4T Virtual Conference on Digital Writing Starts October 2

The 4T Virtual Conference on Digital Writing is a satellite of the annual 4T Virtual Conference (teachers teaching teachers about technology), which is sponsored by the University of Michigan Schools of Education and Information and Oakland Schools.  The 4T Virtual Conference on Digital Writing focuses on the research, pedagogy, and tools of writing in digital spaces in the K-12 classroom.

Throughout the virtual sessions, participants will explore the complexities of teaching writing in a digital age in which students potentially play the role of writer, multimedia creator, collaborator, publisher, reader/viewer/audience member, and critic during their online engagement both during and outside of school.  This four-day event also provides a space for dialogue between K-12 and university educators about the ways that the teaching of writing is enacted in schools, colleges, workplaces, and communities.

Presenters are educators from K-12 and higher education who have expertise to offer virtually via Blackboard Collaborate.  All sessions will be recorded and archived for access by educators who can not attend synchronously.

Partners of the conference include the University of Michigan School of Education, the National Writing Project, and multiple Writing Projects of Michigan sites: Oakland Writing Project, Chippewa River Writing Project, Saginaw Bay Writing Project, Red River Writing Project, and Northern Shores Writing Project. Our hope is that this conference will foster collaboration between Writing Project Teacher Consultants from across the state as well as invite more literacy educators into the Writing Project fold.

All teachers of writing grades K-12, as well as the administrators, curriculum coordinators, instructional coaches, professors, and consultants who support or train these educators are invited to attend, as are aspiring educators. The conference is FREE and open to all educators–though registration is required to attend sessions as well as receive the archived recordings.  In addition, interested educators can get FREE continuing education credits or earn two graduate credits by attending the virtual conference.
